Journalist Parvez was beaten with a rod and injured!

A journalist and businessman Roknuzzaman Parvez (40) was beaten with a rod and seriously injured after entering a shop in Shariatpur. On Monday (September 20) at around 12:30 pm the journalist entered the business establishment near Palang Government Primary School and was attacked.

Locals rescued him and admitted him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.

It is learned that injured Roknuzzaman Parvez is working as ATN Bangla, ATN News and Bangladesh Pratidin Shariatpur correspondent.  He is also the President of Shariatpur Electronic Media Journalists Association.

The journalist and eyewitnesses said that Roknuzzaman Parvez was sitting at his business establishment in Shariatpur town on Monday afternoon. At that time 20/25 people were beating a woman with rods and sticks. At one stage the woman took shelter in his shop.  The assailants then told Parvez to get out of their shop. While videoing the incident, they beat and injured Parvez with a fist and a rod.  Parvez alleged that the attackers were followers of Nazmul and Naeem, sons of Abul Kashem of Uttar Palang village in Shariatpur municipality.

Abul Kashem said, "I don't know anything about this.  If my sons have caused such incidents;  But let them be judged. '

Shariatpur Sadar Hospital RMO said.  Sumon Kumar Poddar said Parvez was hit in the neck.  If some more time does not pass, his exact condition cannot be said.

Palang Model Police OC said.  Akhter Hossain said Roknuzzaman Parvez was rescued and sent to Sadar Hospital.  The case is being prepared.

Shariatpur Press Club president Anol Kumar Dey also demanded that the attackers be brought under the law.
