Authorities apologize for spelling Mujibvarsha, Sheikh Selim of journalists

Awami League presidium member Sheikh Selim has said that the authorities have apologized for the mistake in spelling Mujibbarsha during the Prime Minister's swearing-in ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day and Mujibbarsha. He was responding to a question from reporters at a meeting at the party president's political office in Dhanmondi on Saturday.

He said, Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury came to us and apologized for the mistake. He did not make this mistake on purpose.  Earlier, the swearing-in ceremony was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad on December 16.  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath of office to the people there.  Bangabandhu's youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana was with him at that time.

The oath was marked incorrectly on the dias of the stage of the ceremony. Instead of writing the oath of Subarna Jayanti and Mujibvarsha, the oath of Subarna Jayanti and Mujibvarsha has been written there. That is, a ‘b’ was omitted from the spelling of Mujibvarsha. This makes the word incomplete. Although the spelling of Mujibvarsha was spelled correctly in the affidavit.

Sheikh Selim said efficient leadership and humanitarian leaders like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will never come again. Pakistan has repeatedly conspired to assassinate Bangabandhu.  But she could not hold back. Bangabandhu has repeatedly spoken for the people of Bengal after returning from the brink of death. He has engaged himself in changing the destiny of the people of Bengal. When the Pakistanis dug graves to kill Bangabandhu, Bangabandhu said, "If you kill me, my body will reach the people of Bangladesh."

Regarding the incident of fire in Abhiyan-10 launch on Sugandha river in Jhalokati, he said, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is looking for all the fires.  He instructed to stand by the side of the accident victims.  He instructed to arrange medical treatment for the injured.  He also directed the state minister for shipping to seek financial assistance for the families of the victims.

Sheikh Selim said that on the occasion of Homecoming Day, the central leaders of the party including Sheikh Hasina will pay their respects at the tomb of Bangabandhu on January 10. A discussion meeting will be held at Bangabandhu College on January 11 and 12 organized by the National Committee for the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu. The five-day fair will be held in Tungipara from January 12 to 17.

Present at the time were Awami League presidium members Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Dr. Dipu Moni, Dr.  Hasan Mahmud, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, Mirza Azam, SM Kamal Hossain, Office Secretary Biplob Barua, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan and others.
